The Press release dated June 30, 2011: EAAB grants estate agents qualification and PDE exemption for over 60’s deals with the resolution and policy approved by the EAAB Board for the grant of exemption and process that must be followed by interested and qualifying estate agents who are aged 60 years and above. The fee payable to the EAAB for the consideration and assessment of each individual application (portfolio of evidence) and for consideration into the interview phase is the sum of R2130.00, effective from 01 April 2018.

PROCEDURE FOR THE GRANTING OF EDUCATIONAL EXEMPTIONS TO NON-EXECUTIVE DIRECTORS OF ESTATE AGENCY COMPANIES – 1 APRIL 2018

In accordance with the provisions of the Education Regulations and the Estate Agency Affairs Act, all principal estate agents including all Directors of  an estate agency company must comply with prescribed standards of education and training  including certification against the NQF Level 5 Real estate qualification (National Certificate: Real Estate) and have passed the Professional Designation Examination for principal estate agents (PDE5) to enable such principal estate agents and Directors to be issued with a valid fidelity fund certificate as required by section 26 of the Estate Agency Affairs Act.

B-BBEE Exempted Micro Enterprise – Sworn Affidavit

An Exempted Micro-Enterprise, “EME” is only required to submit an affidavit confirming an annual turnover of less than R2.5 million. EMEs automatically gain Level 4 BBBEE status. If there is 51% black ownership, they are given Level 2 status, while EMEs with 100% black ownership immediately gain Level 1 status.  Affidavits are valid for a period of one year, and then need to be re-done.

It was with great sadness that we learnt of the passing of Pam Golding.  Mrs Golding was a truly remarkable women.  She built a thriving global property business that earned her place as one of Africa’s leading businesswomen – all whilst maintaining her effortless grace and charm and never losing sight of her exemplary levels of ethics and integrity.  She has left a wonderful legacy for the next generation of female entrepreneurs to follow.  We extend our deepest sympathies to Andrew, Peter and Jill, the Pam Golding Group family and her many colleagues and friends.

New Minimum Wage Provisions

The introduction of a national minimum wage is expected to increase the earnings of more than six million working South Africans. Under the new law, employers will have to pay their staff a minimum wage of R20 an hour.

IT IS BETTER TO LIGHT A CANDLE THAN CURSE THE DARKNESS

Colleagues, today I wish to address you about a thorn in the flesh of our prestigious profession, which if not boldly addressed and swiftly eradicated, might eventually sink our profession and plunge it into irreversible lawlessness.

Colleagues I am referring to the issue of estate agents that blissfully trade without a licence, and continue doing so with reckless abandon and alarming impunity. This issue is dangerously becoming an elephant in the room in that licenced estate agents and the Board know fully that its presence looms large in the affairs of our profession yet we don’t seem to be doing anything decisively about it.
