Pam Golding who has passed away at the age of 90, was one of Africa’s most successful women entrepreneurs and a doyenne of the real estate industry.

She founded Pam Golding Properties in 1976 with no start-up capital and one sales assistant, breaking the glass ceiling in a male dominated industry.  Internationally acknowledged as one of the world’s leading businesswomen, Mrs Golding won numerous awards and accolades throughout her illustrious career.

Aside from her enormous contribution to the South African real estate industry and her passion for property, she will always be remembered for her effortless grace and charm and her exemplary levels of ethics and integrity.  This is evident in a statement released by the Pam Golding Property Group following her death which said: “Admired and respected by clients and dearly loved by colleagues, agents and staff alike, her natural warmth and sincere interest in everyone she encountered were trademark characteristics which endeared her to all” .

The company she founded now has over 300 offices in Africa as well as international offices in the UK, Germany, France and Mauritius and is regarded as one of South Africa’s largest property trading companies.  Last year, the property group received recognition as the Best Real Estate Agency in South Africa and Africa at the International Property Awards in Dubai and has won the award for Best Estate Agency in South Africa 10 times since 2005.

In later years, Mrs Golding devoted much of her energy to her philanthropic work and remained a powerful and positive symbol and role model for all women entrepreneurs.

The company has been run by Dr Andrew Golding since she retired a few years ago. However, she remained the company’s Lifetime President.  Mrs Golding is survived by sons Peter and Andrew, daughter Jilly and 10 grandchildren.
