On 15 April 2026, the Minister of Trade, Industry and Competition, Mr Mpho Parks Tau, MP, published the Consumer Protection Act Amendment Regulations, 2026 in Government Gazette No. 54521. The Regulations, issued in terms of section 120 of the Consumer Protection Act, 2008 (Act No. 68 of 2008), introduce amendments affecting, amongst other things, the regulation of direct marketing and the establishment of the National Opt-Out Registry.
