For Principal and Non-Principal estate agents only (excluding Intern estate agents)
CPD compliance in 2018
CPD participants, that is to say, all non-principal and principal estate agents who have been issued with valid fidelity fund certificates for 2018 by the EAAB (excluding intern estate agents presently holding valid ‘intern’ fidelity fund certificates), are reminded that they are required, in terms of the Standard of Training of Estate Agents Regulations, 2008, to comply with the prescribed CPD programme in 2018.
Participants must obtain fifteen verifiable and five non-verifiable CPD points for 2018 calendar year. (The distinction between verifiable and non-verifiable CPD points is outlined on the EAAB website at www.eaab.org.za) Verifiable CPD points may be accrued either by attending contact CPD interventions, arranged countrywide by the EAAB, or through participating in the e-learning CPD programme.
Accessing the 2018 CPD calendar
The 2018 CPD calendar, providing full details of the contact CPD events for 2018, as well as the venues for those events, can now be accessed on the “MyCPD” portal of the EAAB website and participants who have completed the registration process can make a reservation to attend the number of contact CPD sessions to accrue fifteen verifiable CPD points and/or to gain access to the e-learning programme. It is envisaged that the complete e-learning programme will have been uploaded by 15 March 2018 – after which participants may commence with e-learning CPD activities.
Registering for CPD in 2018
- Participants must complete the Personal Development Plan (“PDP”) located on the “MyCPD” portal.
- Once the PDP has been completed, and submitted to the EAAB by clicking the appropriate “Save and Submit” button on the last page of the PDP, participants will receive a ‘pop-up’ instruction, as well as an e-mail, indicating the banking details for the purpose of making payment of CPD fees, which have again not been increased for the 2018 year, and remain at R2 500 for principal estate agents and R2 000 for non-principal estate agents.
- Participants will be prompted to use the seven-digit personal identification number (PIN) allocated to them by the EAAB when making payment to ensure that such payment is correctly allocated. If an incorrect PIN is used the EAAB will not be able to allocate the payment to the participant concerned.
- CPD payments must be made to the EAAB by CPD participants by no later than 31 March 2018.
The trend indicates a migration towards e-learning by CPD participants
As the majority of CPD participants have now migrated towards the e-learning programme to acquire their verifiable CPD points, the presentation of contact CPD events has necessarily had to be rationalised. It should be noted, therefore, that while the EAAB will schedule sufficient contact sessions to enable CPD participants who wish to do so to acquire the full fifteen verifiable CPD points through attendance at contact interventions it may be found that not all CPD topics will necessarily be presented at each separate contact session venue.
