If your agents are employees………

Following our reports of 20 August and 4 October asking the all-important question of whether an estate agent is an employee or an independent contractor and if the “NMWA” then applies to estate agents? We enclose below, some Q&A’s based on the assumption that the estate agent has been found to be an employee.

It is clear that, should an agent be employee rather than an independent contractor, more than just a minimum wage will apply.

 

FFC Deadline Looming

This serves as a reminder that the deadline for payment of 2020 FFCs is 31 October 2019. We urge you to make your payments timeously.

 

Professional Designation Examination PDE for 21 November 2019 is now open

Please be advised that enrolement is now open for all estate agents who wish to undertake the upcoming Professional Designation Examination (PDE) scheduled to take place on 21 November 2019.  Enrolment is done strictly via the MyEAAB portal available on the EAAB website www.eaab.org.za and an exam candidate must be in possession of their 7 digit personal identification number or reference number to be able to enroll.  The Estate Agency Affairs Board (EAAB) Call Centre, 087 285 3222, may be requested to confirm such reference numbers.

 

 EAAB Annual Report and Presentation to Parliament

On 11 October 2019, the EAAB presented their financial statements to the Parliamentary Portfolio on Human Settlements.

REIS 2019: Impact of the Property Practitioners Bill on the Real Estate Industry

On Friday 18 October, Private Property hosted the inaugural Real Estate Industry Summit (REIS), where top industry experts shared insights aimed at igniting future growth of the South African property sector.

Rebosa’s CE participated in a panel discussion aimed at elevating the conversation on transformation, accountability and transparency in the property industry and the significant changes outlined in the Property Practitioners Bill.
