It is with great pleasure to announce that the Property Practitioners Regulatory Authority (PPRA) has appointed Ms. Thato Ramaili as the new Acting Chief Executive Officer. Ms. Ramaili is taking over the reigns from previous Acting CEO Deli Nkambule effective 1st February 2023.

The Board appointed Ms. Ramaili on an interim basis whilst the recruitment process for a new CEO which is underway.

Ms. Ramaili is a seasoned business leader, and it is pleasing to note that she is a familiar face in the property sector. She is a highly experienced and passionate property practitioner with over 9 years in the property sector as a real estate principal. Her enthusiastic approach to real estate has cultivated wide respect within the industry.

She graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting from San Diego State University, USA. She lived and worked in the corporate sector in America for almost a decade and a half, where she practiced in Public Accounting, Financial Services, Government Contracting and Law. She relocated back to South Africa to head up a Finance start – up team that would build the ever first Iveco Plant in Southern Africa, which is located and fully operating in Rosslyn Pretoria. She also holds a National Real Estate Diploma from the University of Johannesburg and an MPRE(Master Practitioner in Real Estate) a designation conferred by the PPRA.

When the Chairperson, on behalf of The Board introduced Ms. Ramaili to the staff, he emphasized that their choice of Ms. Ramaili was informed by her passion and experience in the Real Estate sector and her understanding of the challenges facing both the Industry and the PPRA as the Regulator. He further mentioned that her installation will bring about new ideas and assist in fast tracking the transformation of the PPRA into an effective and efficient organisation.

In her address to staff members upon assuming office on 1 February 2023, she stated that “this day is symbolic as it marks the one-year anniversary of the Property Practitioners Act being promulgated and that the PPRA needed diligent and meticulous staff members who constantly strive for perfection and will enable the organisation to be a World Class Regulator. An organisation that is committed to deliver efficient and effective service to our stakeholders.”

The PPRA Board welcomes Ms Thato Ramaili and is confident in her leadership to place the PPRA on a heightened level of professionalism and service delivery, as well as to explore the enormous opportunities for growth in the property regulatory environment.
