FFC 2021 Deadline
This serves as a reminder that the deadline for renewal and payment of 2021 FFCs is 31 October 2020.
We are aware of the slow response in the issuing of FFC’s and are monitoring the situation.
Illegal charging of penalties and fees
Rebosa has lodged a formal complaint against the calculation of the 2019-20 fees which are not raised in terms of the current regulation. We believe the schedule of fees cannot exceed the amount stipulated in the Regulation of the Department of Human Settlements dated 26 February 2016 and have submitted a legal opinion which confirms same.
We have also raised an objection that some of the fees were increased by nearly 10%, more than double the CPI figure of 4,5%.
There is also no provision in the Act or any of the regulations which empowers the EAAB to impose any penalty on any person for failing to notify the EAAB that they have stopped acting as an estate agent. When such estate agents endeavour to renew their FFCs, the EAAB illegally penalises them iro of all the months during which they did not operate as estate agents.
The EAAB has now formally responded to our legal opinion and are requesting their own legal opinion in this regard.

Guide to PoPI for Estate Agents
Following requests from our members for a guideline on how to implement PoPI in their estate agency firms, we are pleased to provide you with a comprehensive manual which is attached.
Maryna Botha – Director at STBB spent considerable time and effort drafting this manual for Rebosa and we thank her for her efforts.
